A Winter Wedding in London

The wedding of Arabella Musgrave, Gucci's head of communications,

to investment banker George Galliers-Pratt is so quintessentially 

London I am losing my mind. The bride got ready at The Berkeley,

the ceremony took place at St. Paul's (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?), and

the whole affair was just too chic to squeeze into one reception, so

why not throw two - first, a lunch at The Berkeley and then a dinner

with "60 of [their] closest friends" at Little House in Mayfair

(members only, duh) where "Dinner was canapés served on large wooden

platters, and lamb for the main course, followed by espresso

martinis". In other words, it was basically heaven.

The bride, of course, wore Gucci - but it gets better:

"I have worked for Gucci for four years now. Years earlier, I saw

a deep fuchsia runway version of this dress from one of Frida

Giannini's first-ever collections for the house, and I thought the

silhouette would make for a really beautiful wedding dress. I

couldn't believe it when Gucci agreed to re-create it specifically

for me. We made only small modifications to the original design,

like adding lace to the collar and using a belt rather than a sash

around the waist. I didn't try on any other wedding dresses - 

this was the only one I ever wanted to wear." (Vogue)

How beautiful and happy does this low-key

"love celebration" look? Stone Fox Bride made the 

flower crowns, bouquets, and centerpieces for the 

wedding of my favorite ex-Voguer Meredith Melling.

Blackberry Thyme Sparkler via The Effortless Chic

(Makes 4 Cocktails)

1 c. blackberries + 8 more for garnish

1 c. Water

1 c. sugar

1 bottle of champagne

4 ounces or 1/2 c. gin

4 long sprigs of thyme

1 c. ice

 gold baking sugar for the rim

"In a small saucepan, bring blackberries, water, and sugar to a
boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until the blackberries
are soft and the simple syrup has turned to a bright pink/reddish
color. Remove from heat, drain blackberries, and allow to cool. 

This step can be done well in advance as the syrup will keep for at
least a week in the refrigerator. Prepare your champagne glasses.
Okay, so here is a dirty little secret of getting those beautiful
salts and sugars to stay atop the rim: butter. It adheres perfectly 
and you honestly never taste it. Place the tiniest amount between
your fingers and rub just around the rim of the glass before dipping
the glass into the gold baking sugar. Next, begin by adding 1 ounce
of gin to each champagne glass. Next drop two blackberries in each
glass, followed by 2 ounces of homemade blackberry simple syrup.
Fill the rest of the glass with champagne and top with 
a sprig of thyme in each glass. Voila!"
