Yoga Girl Challenge

As I work to figure out my next step, I've been looking towards
people like Rachel Brathen for sources of clarity
and calmness. Oh, and to wine. Rachel is currently leading the
"Yoga Girl Challenge" and it's great. Follow along on her
Instagram (@yoga_girl). Here is today, Day 13's, challenge:

"Tomorrow is Day 13 of the #yogagirlchallenge and the theme is Be Fearless! I want you to take a moment to sit down in silence and figure out what really scares you. On a deep level. We all have something that terrifies us and chills us to the bone. Meditation is a good way to bring that fear forth - close your eyes, focus on your breath and listen to your heart. What scares you? It could be so many things but I invite you to simply choose one. Are you scared of heights? Of spiders? The ocean? Are you afraid of being alone? Of taking the next step? Of trusting your intuition and you inner guidance? First, find out what's really holding you back. Then, dedicate tomorrow to overcoming this fear.. Start with little steps and keep building from there. You're scared of heights? Begin with a step ladder. You're scared of the ocean? Dip your feet in the water. Do what you have if do, and know that for every step you take you are essentially overcoming your fears m, little by little. Give it time. Be patient and know that you must let go of the old to make space for the new. You have the power to overcome. Be fearless! Live from the heart, find courage and overcome a fear tomorrow. You can do it. I believe in you!!! What fear are you going to work on? Share a picture of anything related to it and don't forget to tag @yoga_girl and #yogagirlchallenge #day13 #throwback #love #happy #love #breathe #smile"

the class @ home

Images: Taryn Toomey by Jaimie Arnold

Have you heard of the class? It's a 75 minute, full-body
workout created by Taryn Toomey and it's taking over NYC.
Self has some clips over on their site to help
you recreate the class at home. Get your head right
this Monday morning. Let's try it.

A Week of Resolutions: Get Better at Yoga

I love, love, love yoga.
One of my favorite Christmas presents from my mom this
year was a class package to my yoga studio. Time to get down
to business with my practice because lately I'm all
"Is it almost time for savasana yet?"

Short-term goal: Go to class at least 3x a week.
Long-term goal: Be able to do a headstand by summer.

Some serious inspiration:

And this made my jaw drop:

Is it the weekend yet?

The first 5 days after the weekend
are always the hardest.

Here is how I tried to wake up this morning -
maybe you'll have better luck:

Taking Care

Stress and exhaustion are getting the best of me
this week. They certainly do make it difficult to
become a doctor these days. Here are some pictures
that are speaking to me in my sleep-deprived state.
I think carving out some time for hot yoga and a
little fresh air tomorrow morning is long overdue.
