In honor of World Food Day coming up tomorrow, October 16,
and Lauren Bush Lauren:
part-time model, part-time activist.
Aren't we all?
Lauren designed the first Feed 1 bag in her college
dorm room in 2006 while she was a spokesperson for
the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
Soon after, she partnered with
Ellen Gustafson and FEED Projects was born.
Since its inception, FEED has donated over
$6 million and 60 million meals to WFP countries,
largely thanks to the popularity of Lauren's
eco-friendly, artisan-made burlap bag line.
Proceeds from the original FEED 1 bag provide
1 year's worth of meals for 1 child in a WFP country.
Here are some of my favorites from the FEED shop:
FEED burlap meets up with Judith Leiber glitz
and buys 1,000 school meals.
Can't find my credit card soon enough.
2. The new FEED INDIA collection.
I have my eye on this sarong.
3. FEED Haiti bag.
While the earthquake struck over 2 years ago,
just under half of Haiti's population remains food insecure.
Shopped out?

P.S. Let's all gape at Lauren's custom-made
Ralph Lauren wedding gown for a second to lighten the mood.
Perks of marrying the designer's son, I suppose.
