To the Dark Side

I just finished reading Amy Astley's interview with
Into the Gloss about her recent decision to forego
the ball and chain that is HIGHLIGHTING. God, I am so
sick of HIGHLIGHTING. For years I have dutifully appeared
at my salon every 10-12 weeks and sat for hours burning
my scalp to feign Swedish descent. But no more. I'm officially
declaring myself done.* This is huge for me. I once stopped
speaking to my dad after he wrote I was brunette on my passport
application in middle school. I'm feeling inspired by
the roots these ladies are rocking.

*I maintain the right to revoke this statement as soon as
my roots grow out long enough for me to see my real
hair color for the first time in 10 years.
I imagine it might feel something like this.

Candice Lake's Wedding

This picture of Candice Lake's bridesmaids pretty much
sums up everything I want in my dream wedding. How stunning
are those Mediterranean blues and greens? Vogue recently
featured the Australian model and photographer's Sydney wedding
to architect Didier Ryan at the groom's family home. Candice
and her bridesmaids wore custom Alberta Ferretti and carried
Australian wildflowers. See the whole feature over at Vogue.

BEST DRESSED: CFDA Awards

Best Dressed at tonight's CFDA Awards goes to
Olivia Palermo in Dennis Basso. The shoes, the fringe,
the clutch, the neckline - she looks amazing. On a side
note, I once stood behind Olivia and her smokeshow of a
boyfriend in airport security. I was very pleased
to see that this sartorial goddess also changes into
yoga pants before boarding. Stars - they're just like us!

Runner up:
Karolina Kurkova in Michael Kors

Kilim and Dhurrie Style Rugs

My Madeline Weinrib dhurrie is one of my favorite pieces
in my apartment. I love the addition of a bright woven
carpet to an otherwise minimal, white space a la classic
Scandinavian design. Here are a few kilim and dhurrie
inspired finds (click image for source)

Rain Room at the MoMA

Have you heard about the Rain Room at the MoMA?
Random International has stayed mum on the exact technology,
but the rain pauses above you wherever you move. You can
walk, stand, dance - whatever - through the falling rain
and stay completely dry. The exhibit is open until July 28th.

My Dream Home...in Words

My apartment is pretty calm and restrained. I like a clean
white backdrop set off by masses and masses of pink peonies.”

BEST DRESSED: Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

...goes to Delfina Blacquier, Anne V, Julia Restoin
Roitfield, Dree Hemingway, and Kate Davidson-Hudson.

But honestly it should just go to ANYONE WHO WENT OUTSIDE
WEARING CLOTHES ON SATURDAY. The heat in New York was truly
unbearable. The words "SO THIS IS WHERE I DIE" actually ran
through my mind as I sat on my friend's roof deck asking
Siri where the closest place to get an IV was. In other words,
a big round of applause to these ladies who not only managed
to wear more than a bathing suit, but also seem to have...
dare I say it, blow dried their hair?! Consider me impressed.
